My elbows are about to be sore

So check this out--I'm going to be in the NieNie Book!

Sue just announced who the contributors will be and I'm in there, along with such luminaries as Eric D. Snider, Azucar, TAMN from Seriously So Blessed, and almost 40 other bloggers. The proceeds from the book will go to the Nie Recovery fund.

My first thought when I got the word: "Holy crap, they picked me! I'm going to be published!"

My second thought: "Aw man, I have really got to finish designing this thing."

It's like when you find out that someone is going to be stopping by your house to check it out and you've got underwear drying on a rack in the living room, birds nesting in your dryer hose, entire meals crusted on the kitchen counter, and man urine on the bathroom floor. Or something.

Like a lot of people, I've been following the story of Stephanie Nielsen and her family since the accident, even though I haven't blogged about it. I didn't really know what I could say or do to help. But here's the thing: Their plane crash was on August 16th, which was my wedding day. And it's hard to think about how here I was having the best day of my life while other very good lovely people were having the worst day of theirs--a day that has continued on into weeks and months of treatment and prayers and sacrifice and anxiety.

So when I found out about the book, I thought maybe this was something concrete I could do--not only to help their family, but to somehow show how grateful I am for the blessings I have. And I'm very, very honored and thrilled to be a part of this.

I'll let you know more details about the book as soon as it's available for purchase--I'm sure it's going to be amazing. I can't tell you which post of mine they used, #1 because it's a secret, and #2 because I don't actually know. I submitted 3 and have no idea which one they picked. So we'll both be surprised. I just might be the only one doing the Bunny Hop/Jazz Hands/Neurological Spasm dance. Which I very much hope no one films and puts on the Internet.
