That is a sporting activity, isn't it.

You may have picked up on the part where I'm not the sportiest of girls. This is partly to do with my utter lack of coordination and also some PTSD left over from junior high volleyball. I did attend many football and basketball games in high school, but it was because I was in the marching/pep band. So I wasn't spending so much time paying attention to the game as I was being really, really cool. And I don't watch the sports on TV because if I'm going to be watching TV then there had better be British men and corsets involved--as long as the British men are not wearing the corsets.

So the Superbowl has not really been a part of my life. I'd check out the best of the commercials online the next day, maybe. And I've been fine with this. Until the other day, when I saw the lovely and talented Carina's post about Superbowl Food. And I realized that I was totally missing out. Which brings us to our first Superbowl Commercial Party. My little brother and his wife are going to come over after church and we are going to eat pizza, chicken wings, IZZE sodas, and many kinds of dips (including an Alaskan classic, recipe included below) while we watch the commercials. Maybe some of the game too, I don't know. This is a new kind of experiment.

What about you? Do you watch? And, more importantly, what will you be eating?

Baked Halibut dip

4 cups poached halibut
2 cups sour cream
2 cups mayo
1 t. garlic salt
1/3 c. chopped green chilis (or japelenos if you want more kick)
Paprika for sprinkling

Mix together and bake for one hour in a 325 oven. Sprinkle w/ paprika before baking. Serve warm with crackers or thinly sliced baguette.
